~A Picture of Somewhere You've Been~
I love traveling and since I've been to Ocho Rios Jamaica twice, I'll probably remember a lot more too. My parents love cruising. When I was younger they use to go every other year...until I got into highschool, then it became every year. Then they started the back to back cruises and did that every year. NOW they do their back to back cruising and have either been taking other vacations or planning another cruise during the year. JEALOUS! The first time I went to Jamaica was on a cruise in highschool. It was my parents my sister Megan and I and a scad of other people in our family, aunts, uncles, cousins.. etc. We had a great time! I remember Dunn River Falls the most out of this trip.
Here is part of the falls
This is the main part that you "hike" up. The middle was usually open while there was a string of people holding hands forming a human chain climbing up the side. While it is HIGHLY recommended its not required. So as you have guessed we decided to do it on our own. Why not? As we were climbing, the rocks are slick not just a little..ALOT. As I fianally pull myself up to a point my mom comes up right behind me, slips and is frantically grabbing at me. I'm trying to tuck my arms to myself and not let her get ahold of me ( it sounds awful) and away she went sliding bumping and tumbling down until two guys in speedos catch her. Boy did I get an earful. Can you blame me. There is no way I would have been able to keep grip if she got ahold of me. We would have both crashed down and probably gotten hurt really bad if I fell ON her.
It wasn't like I enjoyed watching her fall but there was nothing I could do about it and I wasn't on a stable non-slick spot to grab her AND keep myself up. So now that I'm done defending myself :) I'll continue. The second time I visted this place was when I was 6 months pregnant..joy. Evan and my mom decided to do the climb while I opted out. Evan helped my mom this time and I didn't think it was a good idea for me. With a growing tummy and shifting balance, slick climbing just wasn't safe. I did get to go river tubing in Jamaica though. But I didn't get to do the "cliff" jumping. So lesson learned, no fun traveling while pregnant. I missed out on so much that summer. We went to California to Patricks wedding and I didn't get to go on any rides at the theme parks. And then a couple months later a cruise, and I couldn't do alot of the stuff there and got horrible motion sickness on all the little boats and car rides around the islands.
