First time sledding!

Yesterday we took Takara sledding for the very first time. Even though its only Evan, I and the 2 girls, it still had taken us an hour or so before we could get out of the door. I pulled my snowboarding coat and pants out from our camper/storage and bundled myself up. After awhile I was smothering in the scent of old people, it was pretty cold out and I wasn't about to go without a coat, so I figured smelling like a grandma wasn't so bad after all. Takara was equally bundled up in her hot pink snowpants and carhartt coat, although she wasn't as thrilled about being restricted from movement even though it meant staying warm. So FINALLY we are out the door and on our way. We pull up to the hill we'd be sledding down, get the sled out and ready and.....Takara is asleep. Great. I pulled her out hoping a deep sleep hadn't set in but it pretty much had so I laid her in the sled thinking THAT would wake her up...no.

So here we are, two parents, going sledding, and our kids are asleep. We were determined to do this, so away we went and somewhere between the car and the top of the hill Takara's eyes popped opened. She wasn't too impressed to begin with...in fact sledding wasn't catching Takara's interest much at all. I think WE were having more fun than she was.
Behind us there was a playground Takara spotted right away so we decided to go there for a bit. There was a tall tube slide that spiraled down so Evan sent her down while I waited at the bottom. I didn't even think about how slick the slide would be in this weather so when she got to the bottom she shot out right between my arms and onto the ground. I started laughing so hard I was crying and was thankful there was snow at the bottom to cusion her. She was laughing too and decided to go for round 2...3...4 and so on.
It was starting to get dark and a little chilly so we thought we'd go sledding a couple more times then head home. Takara jumped in with me and when we got to the bottom of the hill she saw Dad coming and she asked him "Are you ready?" Thinking she meant go sledding down the hill again Evan picked her up and started hauling her back up the hill...no...she meant are you ready to take me back to the park. I guess sledding isn't Takara's thing.

Introducing...

Yes, we need an introduction. Now, we look like a normal down to earth kind of family, but don't be fooled. 4 personalities meshed into a 14x70 mobile home out in the boonies, no we are not the Brady's, or the Adams. We couldn't even pass as the Osmond's. We are the Kawano's. Evan and I met February 2006 were engaged March 2006 and were married August 2006. We planned on waiting 2 years to start our family but 7 months after we were hitched we were surprised to find I was pregnant, we had even booked a cruise! (we ended up going Sept 2007 while I was 6 months pregnant, note: not a good idea). December 2007 we welcomed our first bundle of joy, Takara Tokiko, into our family. 2008 was also filled with plenty of new adventures. We bought our "first" home (the 14x70 trailer mentioned above) and moved it out on the Willwood. November 2008 another surprise, I was 2 months pregnant again! Takara was only 10 months old so this was a shocker. July 2009 we welcomed baby #2 into our family, Kimiko Lu. We each have very different personalities but all love adventure and action. We always need something going on, which is good because there is never a dull moment. Evan is very outgoing and settled. He is the rock of the family and is always supporting me, not just financially but emotionally and spiritually. He loves the outdoors, horses, guns, and all those manly things (he def is my manly man).He works for Prime Power building Power lines and is very satisfied with his work. I (Natalie) am also outgoing and have a certain order to my madness. I am definitely the organizer of our family. Luckily, Evan goes along with my crazy plans and ideas. I love cooking, crafts of all sorts, and the outdoors. I am very "hands on" and will not be left out when it come to building or assembling something. I am a stay at home mom and the kids and I are ALWAYS doing SOMETHING, I can't stay pinned in one place very long. Takara is the controller, we always seem to have a power struggle, but she is also one that can't stand to be doing one thing for too long. She is most satisfied outside where she can run, scream and feel the freedom of open space. The more chaos, the better in her eyes. She loves to "take care" of her baby sister and is a wonderful BIG sister. Kimi is our mellow snugly baby. Always pleasant, she takes everything in and observes the chaos created by her big sister. She thinks Takara is hilarious and will gladly watch as Takara entertains. She is satisfied just going along for the ride which makes our lives much easier! So this is our family, and this is our blog. We will continue to share our new adventures with our family and friends as they come!
